Cleaning Tips: How Often Should You Do It?

When it comes to cleaning your home, there is no one-size-fits-all answer. The frequency with which you should clean will depend on a number of factors, including the size of your home, the number of occupants, how tidy everyone is, and so on.

With that said, there are some general guidelines you can follow to ensure your home is as clean as it can be. Here are some tips on how often you should clean various areas of your home:

– The kitchen is one of the most important rooms in the house to keep clean. Ideally, you should aim to do a deep clean at least once a week. This means wiping down surfaces, mopping floors, and cleaning appliances like the stove and fridge.

– The bathroom is another area that needs to be kept clean for both hygiene and aesthetic reasons. Again, aim for a deep clean once a week. This means scrubbing the toilet, shower, and sink, as well as mopping the floor.

– Your bedroom(s) should be cleaned on a weekly basis, too. This includes making the bed, dusting surfaces, and vacuuming or sweeping the floors.

– Other areas of your home, such as the living room and hallway, can be given a quick once-over every few days. This means dusting surfaces and vacuuming/sweeping floors.

Cleaning is an important part of keeping your home in good condition. But how often should you cleanse different areas of your abode? We’ve put together a guide to help you out.

General Areas: Once a Week

This includes places like the living room, dining room, and bedrooms. A once-a-week schedule should be sufficient to keep these areas dust- and dirt-free. Of course, if you have pets or small children, you may need to clean more often.

Bathrooms: Twice a Week

The bathroom is one of the most important places to keep clean. Not only for aesthetic reasons, but also for hygiene. Toilet bowls should be scrubbed at least once a week, and showers and sinks should be cleaned twice a week.

Kitchens: Every Day

The kitchen is where we prepare food, so it’s important to keep it clean on a daily basis as suggested at Wipe down countertops, sweep and mop floors, and clean the stovetop and range hood. Don’t forget to empty the trash every day, too!

Carpets and Floors: Once a Week

Carpets and floors should be vacuumed or swept once a week. In high-traffic areas, you may need to clean more often. Deep-clean carpets every six months to a year.

Windows: Once a Month

Windows should be cleaned at least once a month, but you may need to do it more often depending on the season and your location. In the spring, for example, pollen can build up quickly on windows and cause allergies.

Furniture: Once a Month

Furniture should be dusted once a month. You may need to clean more often if you have pets or small children. Leather furniture may need to be cleaned more frequently as well.

Appliances: As Needed

Appliances like the dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer should be cleaned as needed. That means cleaning out lint traps after every load of laundry and descaling the dishwasher every few months. Washing machine hoses should also be checked regularly for leaks.

Of course, these are just general guidelines – you may need to clean more or less often depending on your specific circumstances. The most important thing is to develop a cleaning routine that works for you and stick to it!
